Traditional medicine has long been used to manage various health conditions, and many medicinal plants contain bioactive compounds with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties. Recent advances in biomaterials and drug delivery systems offer new opportunities to improve the therapeutic potential of these natural products. Guided tissue regeneration (GTR) is an important technique in regenerative bones that uses barrier membranes to support tissue repair and regeneration. Combining plant-based bioactive compounds with GTR membranes may provide a promising approach to the treatment of periodontal diseases and other tissue defects. This presentation explores the potential of integrating traditional medicinal resources with modern GTR technologies for controlled and localized drug delivery. Natural compounds derived from medicinal plants may be incorporated into biocompatible membranes to improve their biological activity and support tissue healing. Nanotechnology, particularly the use of nanoparticles, may further enhance drug stability, controlled release, and interaction with biological tissues. This approach may help bridge traditional medical knowledge and modern regenerative medicine.
